Have a look at your roof and estimate how much unshaded area is available. What direction is it facing? If your roof space is at least 4 metres by 2 metres and is facing anywhere from east through south to west then you can consider installing a solar electric system.

Permanent shading by trees, chimneys, or other buildings would make a solar PV system unsuitable for your property. You should also be aware that some roofs may be unsuitable for bolt on systems without essential strengthening work. Chiltern Future Energy will advise you on whether solar PV is a sensible option after taking all these factors into account.
